Republic Day Speech

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Respected Teachers and Dear Students,

Today, we have gathered here to celebrate a very special day for our beloved country, India. On this day, the 26th of January, we celebrate Republic Day, the day when our Constitution came into effect in 1950. This day reminds us of the values of justice, equality, and liberty upon which our nation is built.

As Muslims, these principles are extremely close to us, as they are deeply rooted in our belief. Islam guides us on how we should love and honour the country we live in.

Our Constitution includes values such as justice, equality, and brotherhood. These values match Islamic teachings. The Holy Quran tells us:

"Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice." (Surah An-Nisa 4:58)

Justice is the basis of our nation, and Islam teaches us to be just even if it goes against ourselves.

Dear friends, the history of India's freedom struggle is a story of unity and sacrifice. Struggle for Independence: Many Muslims, including great scholars and leaders, played vital roles in achieving independence. Their sacrifices remind us of our duty to stand for truth and justice. This is also reminded by our master, the greatest Prophet Hazrat Muhammad saying, "All mankind is from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab over an Arab; also, a white has no superiority over black, nor a black over white except by piety and good action."

Our republic was built on the principle of unity in diversity, where people from different religions, languages, and cultures live together with mutual respect. This mirrors the Islamic concept of "Ikhwa"—a universal brotherhood that transcends boundaries.

As citizens of this beautiful nation, we have rights but also have responsibilities. The Holy Quran reminds us in Surah Al-Ma'idah:

وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

"Cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression." (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:2)

Serving our nation honestly, respecting its laws, and contributing to its progress are our duties.

Dear students, you are the future of this nation. It is your education, character, and commitment that will shape the destiny of this nation. So remember, to love your motherland is a mere sentiment unless one works sincerely for its cause.

Let's make a promise today to do all this:

· Respect our diversity

· Treat every person around with kindness

· Work hard at studies

· Become good citizens

· Serve our society

May Allah bless our beloved country, guide us to be its most loyal and sincere citizens, and protect us all. Let's pray for peace, unity, and prosperity in India.

Jazakum Allahu Khair.

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh
