Meeladun Nabi Speech in English

All praise belongs to Allah, Who brightened the universe with the light of His noble prophets and messengers. Peace and blessings be upon the master of all mankind, our beloved Prophet Muhammad , His servant and messenger, and upon his family and all his companions until the Day of Judgement.

"Indeed, there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book." [Qur'an 5:15]

Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters,

It fills my heart with immense joy to extend my heartfelt greetings and warm congratulations on this blessed occasion as we commemorate the birth of the Noble Prophet . Today, we gather in this auspicious ceremony on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal to remember and honour the arrival of the Beloved of Allah into this world.

Before I begin my humble words, I request you all to send blessings and peace upon the soul of our Prophet Muhammad with utmost respect and honour.

Why Do We Commemorate His Birth?

Let us first understand why this gathering holds such significance.

When a child is born in any of our homes, the entire family rejoices, sweets are distributed, and congratulations are exchanged. Should we not then commemorate the birth of the leader of all prophets , the one who brought light to all humanity?

The answer lies in understanding what true commemoration means. It is not mere festivity but rather a spiritual gathering where we remember his blessed life and character, recite his praises, reflect on his teachings, and strengthen our love for him in our hearts.

The World Before His Arrival

Before the Prophet blessed this world with his presence, humanity was drowning in darkness—the darkness of ignorance, oppression, and idol worship. People bowed to stones and false gods, and society was plagued by injustice and moral corruption.

Then Allah, in His infinite mercy, sent His Light in the form of our beloved Messenger Muhammad to bring people from the darkness of disbelief to the light of faith, from misguidance to the straight path leading to Paradise.

Hadith Evidence Supporting Birth Commemoration

1. The Prophet's Own Practice

The Prophet was asked about fasting on Mondays. He replied, "That is the day on which I was born, the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam), and the day on which I received revelation." [Sahih Muslim]

This hadith clearly shows that the Prophet himself honoured and marked the day of his birth through acts of worship and gratitude to Allah.

2. The Story of Abu Lahab

It is authentically recorded that when the master of the universe was born, even his uncle Abu Lahab—who was a declared enemy of Islam—became overjoyed at the good news. Out of happiness, he freed his slave girl, Suwaybah, who brought him the news.

After Abu Lahab's death, he was seen in a dream where he said, "I receive relief from punishment every Monday because I rejoiced at the birth of Muhammad and freed Suwaybah on that day." [Sahih Bukhari]

Think about this, dear brothers and sisters! If even Abu Lahab, a disbeliever, receives relief from punishment for showing joy at the Prophet's birth, how much greater will be the reward for believers who commemorate it with love, devotion, and righteous deeds?

3. The Angels' Celebration

It is narrated that the Prophet  said, "When I was born, I saw a light that illuminated the palaces of Syria." [Ahmad]

The angels themselves celebrated his arrival, and miraculous signs appeared throughout the world—idols fell in the Ka'bah, the palace of the Persian king cracked, and a divine light spread across the earth.

The True Meaning of Mawlid

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam, the commemoration of Mawlid is simply an expression of our love for the Beloved Prophet . It involves:

· Expressing sincere joy for his blessed arrival into this world

· Thanking Allah Almighty for granting us this greatest of all blessings

· Honouring and showing deep respect to the Messenger of Allah

· Reciting the Holy Qur'an and sending abundant salutations upon him

· Remembering and reflecting upon his noble character and teachings

· Helping the needy and poor as he taught us

· Avoiding everything Allah and His Messenger declared forbidden

· Engaging in every possible good deed

This is the true spirit of Mawlid—love, gratitude, remembrance, charity, and obedience to Allah and His Messenger.

Quranic Support

Allah says in the Holy Quran: "Indeed Allah has done the believers a favour by sending among them a Messenger from themselves." [Al-Imran 3:164]

And He also commands us: "And proclaim the blessings of your Lord." [Ad-Duha 93:11]

Thus, Mawlid is nothing but expressing gratitude to Allah for this supreme blessing and proclaiming His favour upon us.

Following His Example

As we gather to remember him, let us not forget that true love for the Prophet is following his Sunnah. He was known for his truthfulness and trustworthiness, compassion toward all creation, justice and fairness, humility and simplicity, and forgiveness and mercy.

Let us adhere to these qualities in our daily lives.

Conclusion

Dear believers, commemorating Mawlid is not against Islam—rather, it harmonises beautifully with Islamic teachings when conducted properly. It is a way of expressing love, respect, and gratitude for the greatest blessing Allah bestowed upon humanity.

As we leave this gathering, let us commit ourselves to:

  • Following his noble example in our daily conduct
  • Spreading his teachings of peace, justice, and mercy
  • Strengthening unity and love among Muslims
  • Continuing acts of charity and kindness throughout the year
  • Increasing our study of his Seerah and the Quran

May Allah fill our hearts with the love of His Beloved . May He accept our gathering, shower His mercy upon us, and grant us the intercession of the Prophet on the Day of Judgement.
